Paul’s Birthday Breakfast and Concert 2019

Mr. Paul Trenwith will be celebrating his birthday on Sunday, 3 February. Join him at 8:30am in Bill’s Concert Hall for a full hot breakfast served up by the Narrows catering crew, followed at 9am with a concert featuring Paul and all his bluegrass friends and family. You’ll enjoy performances by the Hamilton County Bluegrass Band, The Trenwiths, Molly G and others!

Booking in for breakfast is absolutely necessary. Tickets are only $10, and you can purchase tickets from the Kiwigrass Crew at the festival on Friday and Saturday.

You do not need to purchase breakfast to enjoy this special concert. Feel free to BYO. All welcome!

Kiwigrass scoop @ Tamahere

Kiwigrass has scored a scoop with the world launch of the Lonely Heartstrings Band brand new CDย ย Smoke and Ashesย at the Kiwigrass kick-off concert on Friday Night.

This spectacular concert will begin with all-female bluegrass band Hot Diggity, and local legends Hamilton County Bluegrass Band, followed by concerts by our three international headliners: Nine Mile Creek, Bluegrass Parkway and of course the Lonely Heartstrings Band.

Tamahere Community Hall

This show is generating a lot of local interest so the Friday Night BBQ, kick-off concert, and Smoke and Ashes launch is heading for a bigger venue up the road a little way,ย  at Tamahere Community Hall at 21 Devine Road.

If you aren’t staying at Narrows, or are already checked in there, you can come straight to Tamahere Community Hall from 2pm onwards for wrist band pick-up and gate ticket sales. There will be no program events at Narrows on Friday.

Bluegrass Today recently did a profile on The Pipi Pickers where I got to talk about Kiwigrass a bit. We’re hoping they might do a full piece on Kiiwgrass itself at some point as well. Kiwigrass is having a truly international reach with people buying tickets from as far as the US, Japan, Australia and the UK!

Catering News 2019

We’re thrilled to announce our food truck catering for Kiwigrass! Roam Catering (Hamilton) will be there with an American Southern-style menu: crab corn and shrimp cakes, fried chicken, biscuits and gravy to name just a few of the treats they’ll be bringing. The Hungry Hunter and Greek Souvlaki (New Plymouth) will also be there with a wide range of options for breakfast, lunch and dinner, including a vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options.

Red Cart Coffee (Hamilton) will be there for all your caffeine needs. As will be Hardieboys beverages (Wellington), boutique manufacturer of a range of hand brewed non alcoholic beverages including ginger beer, lime and lemonade. They also do fresh squeezed orange juice and were a big hit at the Wellington Folk Festival this year.

Narrows Park also has camp kitchens for preparation of your own meals, and it’s less than a 10 minute drive to the nearest grocery. Plenty of options for feeding yourself at Kiwigrass!
