Jean-Luc Leroux and Friends: Hitting the Highway

Jean-Luc Leroux (New Caledonia)

Jean-Luc Leroux is working on converting New Caledonia, the small French Pacific Island into a country bluegrass haven one song at a time.

He pursues this campaign with a weekly radio show Route 66, gigging around the island, and releasing four albums, the latest of which will be pressed in time for a release party at Kiwigrass 2020 โ€“ย  Highway USA.

Leroux has toured extensively in the US, and has released four previous albums with guest artists including Mike Bub, Rob Ickes, Guthrie Trapp, Matt Hooper, and Butch Robins. He will be supported at Kiwigrass by members of The Trenwiths and Hamilton County Bluegrass Band.

Paul Trenwith (aka ‘Dad’) has played banjo since the mid-1960โ€™s with the Hamilton County Bluegrass Band, throughout NZ, Australia and at bluegrass festivals in the USA.

Come straight to Kiwigrass 2020 from Auckland Folk Festival

Karapiro camping will be open and available to Kiwigrass attendees from Monday night for people wishing to come straight down after Auckland Folk Festival. Spend a few days relaxing and recovering beside the tranquil Lake Karapiro. You can relax through the whole week or attend Academy until the festival kicks off on Friday.ย 

Kiwigrass wraps up around 5pm Sunday night. You can stay at Karapiro Sunday night after the festival if you don’t feel like driving that night.
